The FIG Curriculum

Families, individuals, and groups frequently request private instruction ranging from safety education classes to advanced armed professional training. The FIG is dedicated to providing the highest level of professional training available. Current class offerings include:

Maryland Wear and Carry Certification

This 16-hour course satisfies the Concealed Carry requirements for the State of Maryland to include a live fire session. If you want to legally carry a concealed firearm in Maryland this class is for you. We will review the application process with you and on-site fingerprinting services are available for an additional fee.

This course also satisfies the USCCA's Concealed Carry & Home Defense Fundamentals requirements. Topics covered include:

Over 1 million students have taken the U.S. Concealed Carry Association’s course offerings across the nation. Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals is a comprehensive classroom course for anyone considering owning or carrying a firearm for self-defense. If you are new to handguns, this is a great introduction to everything you need to know to start your self-protection journey.

This course is a complete guide to understanding the basics of firearms ownership, safety, and nomenclature, and how it applies to home- or self-defense. After this class, students will feel confident to act as their family’s first line of defense in the event of a home invasion or other critical incident.

Maryland Wear and Carry Renewal Certification

This 8-hour course satisfies the renewal requirements by the state of MD for those who possess a permit. This class includes state required updates and shooting the qualification course.

Red Dot/Pistol Mounted Optic (PMO) Fundamentals

How do red dots work? Why can’t I find the dot? Trust in our professional training to elevate your knowledge and take your marksmanship to the next level. This 6-hour session is geared for the shooter looking to gain understanding and experience on how to use a PMO. This is an intermediate level class for shooters who can already demonstrate basic safe gun handling skills, basic marksmanship skills and basic proficiency working from a holster. This program begins in the classroom and progresses onto the range. When leaving, the student will have experienced: • Reinforcement of safe gun handling skills • Basic understanding of the PMO nomenclature, and how they work. • Discussion of the pros and cons of a PMO • Proper zeroing procedures for a PMO • Reinforcement of marksmanship fundamentals specific to using a PMO • Review of draw technique to help with dot acquisition.

Intermediate Red Dot/Pistol Mounted Optic (PMO)

This 6-hour session is geared for the shooter looking to gain increased performance and confidence when using a PMO. This is an intermediate level class for shooters who can already demonstrate basic safe gun handling skills, basic marksmanship skills and basic proficiency working from a holster. This program is held entirely on the range. When leaving, the student will have experienced:

Reinforcement of safe gun handling skills
Reinforcement of marksmanship fundamentals specific to using a PMO
Analysis of draw technique to help with dot acquisition
Single hand shooting
Perform reloads
Malfunction clearing
Timed shooting drills
Moving and shooting drills

Advanced Red Dot/Pistol Mounted Optic (PMO)

This 2-day class is geared for the shooter who already knows how to use a Red Dot. Challenge yourself to become better with our professional training. This is an Advanced level class for shooters who know pistol fundamentals and can safely demonstrate basic gun handling and marksmanship skills. Proficiently working from a holster is a must in this class! A previous Red Dot Fundamental class from a professional instructor is required. This class is conducted entirely on the range. Civilian, Military, and Law Enforcement are all encouraged to attend. Invest in yourself!! Great class for LEO's who use dots! When leaving, each student will have experienced:

Reinforcement of safe gun handling skills

Reinforcement of marksmanship fundamentals specific to using a PMO Review and analysis of your draw technique to help improve dot acquisition (if needed)

Strong and support hand shooting

Reloading drills

Challenging timed evaluation drills

Moving and shooting timed drills
